Position Summary:

Under supervision, a Senior Technician coordinates facility and system pad activities, administers departmental documentation support including communicating of all scheduled and ongoing operations, tracking current lockout tag out/configuration lock status for all pad systems, and coordinating all VCSFA/MARS and customer related pad activities to maximize pad efficiency.

Duties

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Receives written work orders or verbal instructions from supervisor.

Perform and provide field direction for mechanical and low voltage (control) electrical maintenance, alteration and repair tasks on the VCSFA/MARS mechanical/electrical and Fluid Ground Support Equipment (FGSE).

Operates and provides field direction for the operation of FGSE in accordance with approved operating procedures including performance of valve line-ups, replenishment of FGSE storage vessels, monitoring of FGSE storage levels maintaining system and area cleanliness executing system lock/out tag/out as directed, and supporting FGSE fluid and gas sampling.

Prepare quality, safety, and procedural documentation for operational and maintenance/repair activities.

Assists the Pad Systems Manager in ensuring all required documentation is properly prepared and distributed.

Supports and provides field direction for the preparation of the VCSFA/MARS launch pads and pad system for launch vehicle roll-out/stacking and launch.

Process, distribute and file engineering documentation related to system maintenance, alteration, and repair of VCSFA/MARS infrastructure and systems.

Supports the VCSFA/MARS engineering staff and maintenance leads in the identification of and access to required engineering drawings, specification, and other engineering equipment.

Support the VCSFA/MARS engineering staff and maintenance leads in the identification and specification of the appropriate repair parts/supplies/materials required for system maintenance, alteration, and repair.

Assists other staff to expedite the completion of daily activities or identified projects.

Provides guidance and direction to Technicians and contractor support personnel.

Assists in the preparation of quality, safety, and procedural documentation for operational and maintenance/repair activities.

Supports post-launch damage and readiness assessments, launch pad securing and cleanup.

Attends formal training as directed to pursue or maintain required certifications.

Operates ground support equipment including fork-lifts, man-lifts, boom-lifts, and tow tractors as required in the performance of assigned tasks.

Ensures completion of tasks safely, efficiently, and in accordance with VCSFA/MARS Safety, Quality, and Management Policies and Directives.

Qualifications (required related experience)

A minimum of 10 years of experience of direct, practical work experience in the performance of operations, maintenance, alteration, and repair of complex mechanical/electrical fluid/hydraulic and pressure systems, structural maintenance and corrosion control, or HVAC systems, and a minimum of 7 years of progressive engineering and technical support experience in similar professional environments.


Education (required minimum education level):

A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required and a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major studies in Engineering or Physics desired.
