Mechanical Designer/Engineer - Emergency Generator Fuel Tanks and Sound Attenuated Enclosures

Job Summary: We are seeking a talented and experienced Mechanical Designer/Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and engineering emergency generator fuel tanks and sound attenuated enclosures. Your primary focus will be on creating robust, efficient, and innovative designs that meet industry standards and client requirements. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, manufacturing personnel, and project managers, to ensure successful product development and delivery.

Responsibilities:

1. Design and develop emergency generator fuel tanks and sound attenuated enclosures, considering factors such as structural integrity, functionality, safety, and ease of manufacturing.

2. Collaborate with electrical engineers to integrate the fuel tanks and enclosures with the generator systems, ensuring proper fit, clearances, and accessibility.

3. Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software and other engineering tools to create detailed 2D and 3D models, drawings, and specifications.

4. Conduct feasibility studies and analysis, including stress analysis, thermal analysis, and fluid flow simulations, to optimize designs and identify potential issues.

5. Evaluate materials and components for suitability and compatibility with fuel storage, sound insulation, and environmental conditions.

6. Work closely with manufacturing personnel to address design for manufacturability (DFM) considerations, resolve production issues, and ensure efficient and cost-effective fabrication processes.

7. Perform testing and validation of prototypes and final products, collaborating with quality assurance teams to ensure compliance with industry standards and client specifications.

8. Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and advancements related to emergency generator fuel tanks and sound attenuated enclosures.

9. Provide technical support and guidance to project managers, sales teams, and clients during the product development lifecycle.

10. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions, improve existing products, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.

2. Proven experience in mechanical design and engineering, preferably in the design of emergency generator fuel tanks and sound attenuated enclosures.

3. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and other engineering tools for 2D/3D modeling, simulation, and analysis.

4. Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials, manufacturing processes, and industry standards.

5. Experience with structural analysis, thermal analysis, and fluid flow simulations using relevant software.

6. Familiarity with regulatory requirements and codes (e.g., NFPA, ASME, ANSI) related to fuel storage and generator enclosures.

7. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and make data-driven design decisions.

8. Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams, vendors, and clients.

9. Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on quality, safety, and compliance.

10. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
