JOB SUMMARY

Under general supervision, the Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for managing the development and improvement of manufacturing processes by studying product and manufacturing methods. Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators. Investigates technical problems of engineering staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
  • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
  • Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
  • Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Provides manufacturing engineering information when responding to internal and external inquiries and maintain resolution documentation.
  • Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
  • Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service.
  • Maintains product and process database by ensuring the documentation is up to date and stored in a central repository.
  • Completes design and development projects by training and guiding technical writers and other technicians.
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality forms when necessary.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Responsible for staff management and development including assigning and directing work, appraising performance, hiring, training, and retention, disciplining, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
  • Ensure that all personnel working under your supervision adhere and fully comply with the Company’s Code of Conduct and ethics.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in engineering and five-plus years of experience in related fields.

Master’s degree in related field with three-plus years of experience preferred.

Have the ability to take projects from design concept to final production.

Have experience with coil winding, magnetics, and electrical testing.

Have good organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Have a working knowledge of technical writing, ISO/AS standards, lean operations, manufacturing training methods, and quality practices.

Have knowledge of aerospace materials and processes, machine shop practices, and dimensioning and tolerancing.

Two years of experience in an ISO environment; designing process improvement, problem-solving, and writing technical documentation (test plans and reports) preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Hearing: Adequate to perform job duties in person, over the telephone, and on the production floor.

Speaking: Must be able to communicate clearly in person, over the telephone, and on the production floor.

Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including visual examination of manufactured parts and reading information from printed sources and computer screens.

Other: Requires frequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds unassisted, including assisting co-workers when required. Adequate physical ability including sufficient manual dexterity to perform the requisite manufacturing duties. Requires frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting, and sitting, with some heavy lifting, pushing, and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
