SUMMARY:

This position is responsible to troubleshoot, dismantle, inspect, repair, modify, rebuild, service and adjust all types of plant equipment.

Key Accountabilities

  • Analyzes breakdowns of plant equipment and plans details of working approach to

determine material and/or replacement needs and follows a practical approach to

effect repairs.

  • Answers trouble calls, performs scheduled and non-scheduled inspections,

adjustments, repairs, etc., in accordance with diagram or drawing specifications,

manuals or other instructions.

  • Analyzes all types of hydraulic, electrical, electronic and pneumatic circuits,

diagrams or drawings as required to install, repair, adjust, calibrate, construct, modify

or service all types of electrical systems and devices.

  • Analyzes comprehensive schematics, sketches, and drawings related to the maintenance and repair of all types of electrical systems and devices.
  • Sketches parts and layouts for modification of conversion of all types of electrical systems and devices.
  • Sketches and constructs electrical systems and component parts using tools normal to the trade.
  • Each employee is responsible in the performance of his/her duties for his/her safety and the safety of others, and is responsible for maintaining his/her work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Troubleshooting and repair of equipment.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Five (5) years heavy industrial maintenance and electrical experience or successful completion of an approved Heavy Industry Apprentice Program. High school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent.
  • Act DC motor and drives, 460V circuits, 4 to 20 MAmp control circuits, thermocouples, single phase and 3-phase circuits, reversing starters, personal computers, gas fired burners, heaters.
  • Print reading including electrical and hydraulic prints and schematics.
  • Communication skills both verbally and writing.
  • Troubleshooting, conduit threading, bending installation, welding, wiring installation, electronic repair skills.
  • Operation of equipment including forklift, man lift, sizzorlift, overhead cranes, and mobile cranes.
  • Use of Voltohm meters, meggar, oscilloscope leaders, PLC's, PC's.
  • Calibration of all types of electrical equipment and gas fired burners.
  • Must exercise good judgement at all times and can complete assigned tasks, as well as, breakdown repairs without direct supervision. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize to ensure minimum interruption to process.
  • Errors could cause serious injury or loss of life for employee or others. Significant financial losses could occur from damage to equipment and/or losses of metal.
  • Work environment varies from good to extreme. Exposure to mill environment: heat (130 degrees), cold (ambient), wet, humid, dirty, dusty, oily and some chemical exposure.
  • A high to very high degree of concentration is required.
  • Strenuous physical activities including a lot of walking, climbing ladders and stairs, entering confined areas, heavy lifting (50 lbs. or more) and working in high areas.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working in a heavy industrial setting.
  • Experience in a molten metal environment

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.85 per hour
