Job Summary: The Lighthouse of Houston has been contracted to provide mailroom services to the Temporary Mail Center at Vandenberg Space Force Base. The Temp Mail Center provides mail, packages, and other correspondence to those personnel on temporary assignment to the base. The staff manages the Center and ships, receives, and delivers all mail to the residents of six dormitories.

Hourly Wages:.Determined by the Wage Determination report for Santa Barbara County, job title General Clerk I. Current listed wage is $15.30 regular compensation per hour + $4.23 per hour Health & Wellness compensation. This position is part-time, non-exempt.
Job Duties:
- Receive, process, distribute and direct regular mail from and to the United States Postal Service (USPS) and various small package delivery service providers (i.e., FEDEX, UPS, etc.)
- Secure packages that have not been delivered, maintain various files, and manage and maintain mail receptacles.
- Preserve and protect the security of the mail at all times form unauthorized opening, inspection, reading contents or covers, tampering, delays, loss, or other unauthorized acts.
- Provide notification and storage of packages for dormitory residents and General Delivery customers.
- Transport and distribute mail between the United States Postal Service (USPS) and the dormitories.
- Provide customer service including managing receptacles; dispense parcels and/or packages.
- Serve as the liaison for customers to the USPS and small package delivery companies. Ensure accounts are created as necessary with FEDEX, UPS, USPS, etc.

Experience Required: mailroom and/or file-clerking experience preferred, but not required
Education Required: High School Diploma/GED or higher
License and Certification Requirements:
- Must be able to be approved for base access.
