Job description
The Manufacturing Plant in Huntsville is seeking a skilled Machine Technician to oversee the operation of a range of Computer Numerical Control machines according to quality operating system requirements in a high-volume manufacturing environment in line with control plan guidelines to ensure consistent product quality.
The role includes:
Monitoring computer screens and interpreting quality data to ensure adherence to the control plan and reporting any deviations to the Group Leader
Addressing machine faults and implementing corrective action
Troubleshooting work-related issues and effecting repairs as necessary on the spot, then reporting to the Group Leader
Documenting rework and scrap using the non-conforming material procedure
Observing tool wear detection and making tooling changes as needed
Working in teams to identify and implement process improvements and error proofing procedures
Verifying compliance with process instructions and control plans, and reporting any deviations to the Group Leader
Entering quality data from manual SPC station data into the computer
Verifying gage calibration requirements for engine blocks, heads, cams, and liners
Anticipating potential production problems by reviewing equipment condition proactively and initiating corrective action when necessary
Monitoring special characteristics to ensure compliance with control plan requirements
Working safely to prevent on-the-job injuries and complying with all safety and environmental requirements
The ideal candidate, except for current Navistar personnel, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to work in the United States. This position is not expected to receive employment-related work sponsorship (e.g., H-1B status) from Navistar.
