This position will be responsible for the coordination and management of freight for finished goods, raw materials and other products thru 3rd party carriers ensuring that all shipments are completed accurately, on time, and on budget. Duties include:
70% Freight Scheduling (Logistics)
- Complete accurate and timely scheduling and dispatching of trucks and rail cars
- Track shipments from pickup through delivery
- Negotiate with providers to obtain best rates and service
- Create and monitor provider benchmark system to measure service levels
- Receive and process requirement requests from customers
- Participate in various projects by managing new initiatives as they arise
- Create and maintain daily, weekly and monthly statistics
- Administrative duties as required
30% Administration
- Review payments for Logistics A/P invoices
- Creation and maintaining daily, weekly and monthly statistics
- Set up carriers/insurance companies
- Involved with department projects
- Filing and Administrative duties as required
Skills and qualifications:
- Previous experience in freight planning, truck/rail coordination or similar role is desired
- Excellent Customer Service/communication skills
- Works well under pressure
- Flexible, able to deal with change
- Strong attention to detail
- Very organized, with excellent multi-tasking and problem solving skills
- Strong computer skills – Microsoft (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
The hours for this position are 8 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday with the ability to take calls after hours as needed. Once trained, this position offers remote opportunity 2 days a week.
