Located on the downtown Orlando campus, Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies opened in 2006, providing programs and services focused on the unique needs of women and newborns. Specialized care covers all facets of women's health, from comprehensive gynecological services and minimally invasive surgeries to obstetrics and high-risk pregnancies and births. The hospital is “Magnet” recognized for nursing excellence and high-quality patient care and is certified in perinatal care by The Joint Commission. Welcoming nearly 14,000 babies each year, the hospital’s 350 beds include 142 neonatal intensive care beds, making it one of the largest neonatal intensive care units under one roof in the country. As a sister hospital with Orlando Health Arnold Palmer for Children, the hospital was included in the 2021-22 “Best Children’s Hospitals” rankings by U.S. News & World Report, recognized for expertise in Neonatology, and, together with Orlando Health ORMC, was included in the IBM Watson Health 100 Top Hospitals® list for 2021.

The mission of the Antepartum Special Care Unit (ASCU) at Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies is to provide the highest quality of care to both low and high-risk obstetrical patients during the antenatal period. We will use the best demonstrated care practices, current technology, and environmental design to enable our patients to achieve the best outcomes possible. Winnie Palmer Hospital for women and Babies Antepartum Special Care Unit is seeking Licensed Practical Nurse II. Licensed Practical Nurse II provides and documents individualized patient care to include patient evaluation, education, medication administration, IV therapy, treatments and patient safety as directed by the RN.
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions
  • Demonstrates competency in advanced practical nursing skills and use of patient care/unit equipment as defined by unit specific requisite skills.
  • Communicates appropriate information regarding the patient’s condition to the RN and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Maintains a safe and caring environment for both patient and family.
  • Assumes an active role in keeping informed about changes in hospital policy, procedure and equipment.
  • Participates in nursing PI activities as assigned.
  • Demonstrates awareness of legal issues, patient rights and compliance with the standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies.

Other Related Functions
  • The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
  • Practices efficient use of supplies.
  • Maintains a clean, safe and organized unit.
Qualifications:
Education/Training

  • Graduate from an approved school of nursing.
  • Successful completion of a 30 hour approved IV therapy course.
Licensure/Certification
  • Current nursing license in the State of Florida renewed every two years.
  • Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.
