LEGAL ASSISTANT
Sottile & Barile LLC is a full-service Creditors’ Rights law firm looking to add a Legal Assistant at its Middleburg Heights, Ohio office. The Legal Assistant is responsible for a variety of tasks within the Collections department, ranging from opening new files upon refer and answering client questions to preparing legal documents and filings for court submission. Job Requirements
1. Understand and demonstrate the principles associated with Sottile & Barile LLC’s Mission, Values and Vision.
2. Prepare software-driven legal documents, including but not limited to: demand letters, complaints, motions, garnishments, judgment liens, etc.
3. Review Court dockets for various filings, service of process dates, and other items.
4. Accurately organizing and updating electronically stored files within the firm’s database.
5. Analyzing data and documents for errors.
6. Keeping sensitive client information confidential.
7. Adhere to the FDCPA as well as state and federal laws and regulations.
8. Perform various Debt Collector administrative duties, including but not limited to: both placing and answering phone calls from various sources; preparing documents; scanning, copying, and mailing documents, etc.
9. Electronically file various prepared documents on behalf of attorneys and clients.
10. Accurately print information onto carbon copy documents by hand.
11. Understand sequential events and the order in which happenings must occur before additional actions are taken.
12. Comply with policies and procedures as required.
13. Successfully complete in-house, on-the-job training and certifications.
Job Qualifications
1. Experience: 1-2 years working as a legal assistant, paralegal, or equivalent in a different industry.
2. Education: High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
3. Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English.
4. Strong written, verbal, active listening, and phone communication skills.
5. Ability to communicate effectively and in a professional manner.
6. Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting.
7. Detail oriented
8. Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, multi-task and change priorities/tasks as needed
9. Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication., division, percentages)
10. Ability to use standard office equipment, basic computer skills, and ability to use a calculator.
11. Ability to use the internet, Microsoft office, and web mail for business purposes.
12. Ability to refer to policy and procedures when applying information and making decisions.
