Job description
The School of Communication, Journalism, and Media, at Central Michigan University, invites applications for a fixed-term position responsible for teaching a 4/4 load of courses in news and video production and instruction. We seek a colleague to take the lead in engaging students in current television news and studio practices both in the classroom and lab environments. The candidate will also facilitate students with on-camera and on-microphone skills across multimedia platforms. This position will strengthen newly focused connections with other programs in our School, and pursue collaborative opportunities for students in news, sports, and social media. The successful candidate will join a media program nationally recognized for excellence in student radio and television production, and we seek innovative candidates to progress our school to continue as a leader in the field. This position includes teaching undergraduate and graduate news-oriented media and video production courses.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a mass media field.
- Experience with professional video production.
- Experience with leading student media and news production.
- Teaching news writing and production.
- Teaching studio and field video production.
- Ability to teach media courses at the graduate and undergraduate level.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Industry experience in professional news media areas.
- At least 2-years of teaching experience at the college level.

The School of Communication, Journalism, and Media at Central Michigan University combines three distinguished academic units in the summer of 2023.
