Job Description – Lead Preschool Teacher

Minimum Requirement: Over 21 years of age, H.S Diploma, 6 semester or nine quarter hours in ECE courses or CDA with a preschool setting, 1 years of experience in a licensed daycare center
- Emotional maturity when working with children
- Cooperation with the purposes and services of the program
- Respect for children and adults and frequent interaction with children
- Flexibility, understanding, patience, and good personal hygiene
- Physical and mental health that do not interfere with childcare responsibilities
- Listening skills, availability, and responsiveness to children
- Sensitivity to children’s socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and religious backgrounds, and individual needs and capabilities
- Ability to provide an environment in which children can feel comfortable, relaxed, happy and involved in play, recreation and other activities.
- No talking on cell phone in classroom
Lead Teacher Primary Responsibilities
- Report directly to the Director
- Report to Office Manager when Director is not available
- Work in partnership with assistant teacher and demonstrate appropriate early childhood teaching practices
- Create weekly lesson plan and work package.
- Display lesson plan art projects each week on the hallway bulletin board.
- Plan and execute appropriate activities for the children each day in art, music, language, math, science, social studies, and dramatic play
- Help children meet their developmental and emotional needs
- Complete assessment on each child every two months
- Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings and functions when needed
- Observe and record progress for parents.
- Attend at least 20 hours of in-service training yearly
- Maintain Gateway classes and credentials per Director guidance
- Work cooperatively with staff members and parents
- Always maintain a clean room, dust, sweep, mop, and vacuum as needed
- Sanitize toys daily.
- Be available for parent conferences when necessary
- Notify the Director in the event of absence.
- Notify the Director when room supplies, or materials are getting low
- Meet the requirements for Pediatric First Aid/CPR
- Other duties as assigned by the Director based on the need on the daycare
