The Role
This position, under limited supervision, is responsible for GE Smallworld system design, development, configuration, and administration. Building, enhancing, and maintaining our strategic network planning and engineering systems is the focus of this position. Driving automation, efficiency, and data integrity to improve our stakeholder and customer experience is key to our success.
The Main Responsibilities
- Drive and manage the ongoing development, integration, and efficiency of our Network Design System.
- Support adoption and integration of design and engineering solutions into related areas of the organization
- Responsible for coordinating the development of complex Smallworld solutions from conception to delivery to optimize profit and meet marketing, financial, and corporate growth objectives.
- Collaborates with a wide variety of functional areas such as Planning, engineering, Network Implementation, IT, and operations to develop/implement enhancements for Smallworld platforms.
- Develop efficient and effective processes for rapid business solutions
- Develop, test, demonstrate, and support Smallworld system solutions – reporting, workflows, custom objects/data models, templates, user interface/wizards, and automation to support our internal business units and customers.
What We Look For in a Candidate
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and related experience
- 7+ years of professional experience
- 5+ years of GE Smallworld PNI development experience utilizing Magik
- Experience Performing Data model changes, customizations, style changes
- Experience in Performing Smallworld Upgrades and Implementation in a CI/CD DevOps environment
- Experience with VMDS and ETL functions utilizing Smallworld Enterprise Gateway (SWEG) or FME
- Experience with relational database and query to support Oracle spatial, PostGIS
- Understanding of Web Services
- Experience working with internal business partners and outside consultants
- Experience delivering solutions using agile methodologies and processes
Preferred:
- Experience with the following applications: PNI, GSS, GSA, SWEG, SPLUNK, Kafka
- Experience with multiple development languages: Nodejs, java, javascript, C#, .Net
- Experience with Databases and query languages to support: Oracle, Oracle Spatial, PostGIS, Cassandra
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), AWS, or Azure
- Experience leading solution delivery via Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) processes
- Experience with enterprise agile project management tools such as JIRA and Confluence

This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentive.
