Job Description
The purpose of this position is to support the patient care environment by operating and maintaining the central heating and air-conditioning equipment for the Medical Center.
**The expectation is that this role is a working Power Plant Operator who will stand watch on their assigned shifts in the capacity of a Power Plant Operator. In addition, this individual will lead fellow Power Plant Operators and drive for consistency and operational excellence as described in the below listed ‘Job Duties’.

Job Duties
Responsible for maintaining, developing, implementing with Power Plant Operators the Standard Operating Procedures/Standard Work and Policies for plant operations related to steam, heating system hot water, domestic system hot and cold water, chilled water and other domestic water safety systems provided to the Medical Center by boilers, pumps, heat exchangers, chillers and other related equipment in the Power Plant.
Responsible for maintaining Power Plant operation Manuals and ensuring all Power Plant equipment is coordinated with CMMS for required maintenance and regulatory requirements.
Assist the Director or Manager on Power Plant systems as directed. Report safety issues and work with Director or Manager to determine corrective action. Assist Director or Manager to prioritize emergency breakdown response.
Prioritize and perform assigned preventative and corrective maintenance on all Power Plant equipment within established preventative maintenance and regulatory requirements. Assist Director or Manager in scheduling workload, work order assignment and Power Plant coverage. Order necessary parts and equipment needed to maintain equipment.
Responsible for working with and coordinating all outside service vendors, including State and Insurance inspectors, related to Power Plant operations equipment.
Responsible for maintaining adequate supply of emergency utility sources and coordinates as needed Utility curtailments.
Responsible for creating and maintaining routine maintenance and capital budget improvements.
Provide input to Director or Manger on performance evaluations based upon Standard Operating Procedures and Policies.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education, Credentials, Licenses:
  • High School Diploma, post-secondary training in a maintenance related field.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and meet SEHC insurance requirements.
Specialized Knowledge:
  • Experienced with steam and condensate.
  • General experienced with computers systems, pumps, chemical treatment, centrifugal chillers, and cooling towers, and computer operation and software applications.
Kind and Length of Experience:
  • 5 years’ experience working with steam equipment, boilers, chillers and related equipment - pumps, compressors, etc.
  • 5 years’ experience working with electronics and controls systems, HVAC systems, air, and vacuum systems
