Duties
- Respond to and investigate emergency calls.
- Exercise search and apprehension authority, interview witnesses, apprehend suspects.
- Collect and preserve evidence, conduct long and short-term investigations on criminal cases.
- Appear in court to provide sworn testimony on investigative process, evidence gathered, witness' statements in criminal and traffic courts.
- Conduct traffic law enforcement patrol and issue citations.
- Instruct employees on job techniques, check on work in progress and answer questions on procedures and regulatory directives.
- Report to supervisor on performance, progress and training needs of employees.
Specialized Experience for the GS-08 grade level:
One year of specialized experience which includes performing law enforcement duties to include enforcing traffic laws, assisting with law enforcement investigations; and maintaining order and protecting life and property. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
