Description: Under general supervision, to perform a variety of unskilled, semiskilled and skilled tasks relating to the maintenance and repair of parks facilities and equipment. Perform maintenance items at city owned parks and /or recreation facilities, including but not limited to aquatic center, community arts center, two historical cemeteries, bike/hike paths, various municipal/neighborhood parks and public areas.

Examples of Duties

• Cut grass, weed eat and trim in all of the Fairfield Parks.
• Maintain and repair facilities grounds; trim bushes, trees and shrubs; perform rough carpentry and concrete work; paint buildings and facilities; perform minor custodial duties as assigned and spread mulch throughout the parks system.
• Empty all trash cans in all the parks at least twice a week.
• In a safe and effective manner operate equipment such as: tractor, mower, dump truck, pick up truck, chain saw, and various other hand and power tools.
• Manually shovel and move salt, dirt, snow ect.; lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Conduct work in all kinds of weather, pleasant, inclement and hazardous.
• Any other duties that are assigned by the Parks Foreman.

Typical Qualifications: Effective oral and written communications skills; leadership and managerial skill. Ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to develop and maintain working relationships. Minimum qualifications include: High School Diploma or GED and a valid Ohio Drivers License.
