This is primarily a work from home (WFH) position. There may be instances where working from our Holladay Park campus in Portland may be required.
Responsibilities:
The Laboratory Applications Technical Analyst applies in-depth knowledge of the functional and technical aspects of laboratory business, clinical, and technical application systems to define and implement solutions in those systems. Instructs, directs and checks the work of other staff on projects. Acts as key interface with users, Laboratory Services management, Laboratory Services staff and Information Resources staff to anticipate and resolve problems. Functions as a technical expert in one or more highly specialized phases of Laboratory Information System (LIS) analysis. Serves as a liaison between laboratory technical staff and IS staff. Works with Laboratory Services staff to coordinate modification of laboratory and LIS procedures to solve complex information-system problems. Manages and leads system development and installation projects.
Qualifications:
Education:
A bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological, medical technology, computer science, math, or business from an accredited institution is required. Successful completion of an ASCP, AMT, AAB, or CLS accreditation program for medical technology is preferred. CPHIMS certification is preferred.

Experience:

Four years working experience in programming and/or analysis in Laboratory Information Systems required. Prior system implementation experience required. In-depth understanding of a Laboratory Service’s business, applications and technology with a minimum of five years’ experience which can be concurrent with the programming and/or analysis work experience.

Skills:

Thorough understanding of current developments and trends in clinical laboratory business operations and health care information systems.
Demonstrated ability to do systematic, thorough problem solving, and ability to initiate client-problem resolution.
Ability to establish, conceive, and describe systems, designs, flow charts, time schedules, and network requirements.
Competent to work at the technical level of applications systems analysis activities.
Understanding of database concepts and terminology.
Understanding of clinical laboratory technological procedures and systems.
Strong interpersonal skills that allow effective working relationships with a wide range of people. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
