As a Ceramic Engineer Co-op this is your unique opportunity to set your mark and live on the leading edge. This role will report to the Senior Staff Engineer of Kitchen and Bath America, with support within the Manufacturing WI plant.
How you will Contribute
- Carry out projects which will result in improvements in yield and productivity.
- Undertake assigned projects relating to Vitreous ware manufacturing operations primarily in slip and glaze testing, slip & glaze formulations, casting specifications, and problem-solving to improve the quality control of the slip and glaze making process. Develop benchmarks to measure each project’s contribution to yield, productivity, or other categories of cost reduction.
- Coordinating with engineers, recommend to appropriate supervision additional projects, which should be targeted for implementation.
- Provide technical assistance and training as required to operating departments.
- Develop and maintain an awareness of innovations in technology, which might be adapted to manufacturing operations.
- Assist in the development of improved procedures for new product introduction.
- Engage in process improvement using Kaizen methods. Will be expected to frequently lead Kaizen teams.
- Maintain process control using ISO 9001 Quality System, including performing internal audits.
- Performs additional projects as assigned by slip and glaze supervision.
Skills/Requirements
Candidates must currently be in pursuit of a 4-year Undergraduate Degree in either Ceramic Engineering or Materials Science Engineering. Sound communication, problem solving, creative-thinking, and collaboration skills are preferred.
