What You Will Be Doing

Tyto Athene is looking for a Junior Unified Communications (UC) Engineer to support a critical initiative to modernize our Federal Law Enforcement Customers legacy telephony systems to an enterprise-class VoIP and Unified Communications solution across all CONUS locations.

The UC Engineer will be supporting Operations and Maintenance on the legacy system. Then engineer must be capable of performing troubleshooting, Move Add Change Delete (MACD) and system restoration on Avaya CS1000, legacy Nortel Option series is required. The candidate must be experienced in assessing user needs, translating those needs to identify the nature of the trouble and applying skills to rectify the error condition on the system.

• Provide Onsite Tier 1 and Tier II level technical assistance support.
• Experience with the Nortel platforms.
• Familiarity with Main Communication Facilities, Data Switches and Routers
• Familiarity with Service Manager or other similar ticketing system.
• Working knowledge of routers and switches is preferred.
• Maintains data network equipment and services to ensure working order and demand availability by performing scheduled, routine on-line test and by checking, adjusting, or replacing equipment to established standards
• Ability to successfully handle multiple priorities simultaneously is required.
• Experience troubleshooting network hardware using test instruments and monitoring and diagnostic programs.

Education and Certifications:

• A minimum of 7 years experience supporting Avaya enterprise environments including related to hardware and software
• A minimum of 7 years experience with Avaya
• Ability to provide technical support over the phone; good telephone skills, professional demeanor, previous customer service experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to write clear and comprehensive work instructions, SOPs, and knowledge base documents
• Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills
• BS/BA or equivalent experience with telecommunications services.
• Avaya Certification desired

• Must be willing to work at customer site in Quantico, VA.
