Responsibilities:
Main responsibilities include:
  • This position will be based out of the Florence, SC Location and will provide product support for a variety of existing elevator components and electrical systems. The position will play a crucial role in maintaining product integrity, evaluating opportunities, and integrating new component designs into existing systems, while working to meet agreed upon cost and schedule commitments.
  • Work with global and regional, multi-functional teams in support of IoT engineering activities including needs analysis, functional allocation, Cost to benefit analysis, architecture development and evaluation, trade off analysis and risk assessment
  • Lead and perform User Acceptance Testing for IOT projects/ Products
  • Prepare or support system level design failure mode and effects analyses for each end-to-end feature/product prior to development start and verify requirements and design with modelling, simulation, and test as required
  • The candidate should be able to read and understand schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical assembly drawings, building layouts in order to analyze complex problems and identify root cause issues and develop innovative solutions. Ability to work across disciplines with mechanical engineers, software engineers, manufacturing personnel, and field personnel
  • Hands-on integration, validation, verification and troubleshooting of pre-production systems and workflows
  • Support current strategic plans, roadmaps, engineering tasks and testing for IoT systems, services and features within the Otis product framework.
  • technical requirements, architecture definition, Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
Education/Certifications:
MA/MS degree with 2to 3+ years’ experience
BA/BS degree with 3 to 10+ years’ experience
Experience/Qualifications:
Ability to take abstract ideas and formulate or support plans to create product requirements within existing eco-system constraints, timing pressures and customer expectations to identify a solution that achieves quality objectives.
ECAD tools (Cadence or E3 or Autocad Electrical)
Hands-on lab experience with electrical architectures, embedded software designs and test equipment to support test, integration, and troubleshooting.
Experience with defining, releasing and managing IoT communication protocols along with proper end to end change management across the product lifecycle
Sound electrical engineering background (one or more of the following wiring diagrams, systems analysis, motor and control applications, and control logic, electrical circuits, solid state power supplies, communication protocols, harnesses, power electronic components, motors, starters, relays and contactors, drives, transformers,)
Some product launch experience of complex end to end IoT connectivity features and services. Experience with developing IoT solutions to meet or exceed performance and cost targets.
Elevator systems knowledge Preferred
Experience working with national, local code and enforcement agencies. i.e. CSA, ASME, NFPA, TSSA, NEC Preferred
Experience with cloud applications, databases, and technology stacks and their application in connected eco-systems. For example, experience with mobile application (iOS, Android), Microsoft Azure Apps, Amazon AWS Apps, Google GCP is beneficial.
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work individually and with and in cross functional teams in a matrix organization to meet customer commitment. Strong analytical and logical reasoning skills.
Solid written and verbal communications skills.
