International Marketing Specialist
Job description
The International Marketing Specialist position plays a key role in launching, developing, and maintaining NC agricultural products worldwide. The incumbent will need strong organization skills and communication skills as well as the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. A solid and broad foundation in marketing and market research, is highly desirable.
The key role of this employee is to identify and develop international marketing efforts in foreign countries which include promotions and sales support. This will require frequent travel within the state as well as across the world. The ability to adapt to a wide variety of environments and cultures is necessary for this position.
Major responsibilities will include generating leads by identifying potential global markets, recruitment, training programs, product promotions, market research, buyer-seller introductions, trade missions and trade shows. This position will determine the demand for products and track progress on these global prospects to increase market share and profitability. Building awareness of the state by participating in trade shows and industry analyst relations may also be required. An individual that is a team player and can motivate agribusinesses on all levels is key for this position and success for the state.

Salary for a trainee may be set lower than the classification salary range and recruitment range that is listed in the posting. The salary is adjusted as the trainee obtains the additional education and experience to fully meet the position qualifications as outlined in the classification specification.

- Must be able to travel internationally.
- Strong leadership skills, communication skills, interpersonal skills, and analytical skills are necessary.
- Ability to gather and organize information and present orally to groups and individuals in a variety of settings.
- Ability to present NC agriculture visually, graphically, or orally for the purpose of marketing promotion (websites, advertising, social media, demonstrations, training, etc) to a diverse international audience.
- Ability to establish strong working relationships with a variety of people including industry, farmers, agribusinesses, and commodity leaders.
- Ability to understand and interpret information about local, state, national, and foreign economies, and to draw valid conclusions and advise agricultural exporters.
- Must be able to carry, set up and breakdown trade show displays.
MANAGEMENT PREFERENCES:
- Proficiency in a foreign language(s)
- Experience in marketing products
- Familiarity with North Carolina agribusinesses
- General knowledge of exporting and international trade.
Bachelor's degree in marketing, business administration, crop science, animal science, horticulture, home economics or related area of assignment from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of experience in the related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
