MAJOR RESPONSIBILITES:

Training

  • Contributes to AgCountry’s overall level of knowledge concerning insurance through formal and informal training and interaction with other staff at the branch and association levels.
  • Provides training and mentoring to new insurance specialists and loan officers under the guidance of the SVP and VP Insurance, as assigned. May offer training recommendations in collaboration with the VP Insurance.
  • Provides product training and technical training for branch product processing in the area of insurance
  • Serves as branch expert and AgCountry resource for all insurance programs. Collaborates with the VP Insurance on association training programs.

New Products, Supplement Products and Endorsements

  • Develops and maintains a high level of understanding and expertise in all insurance products available from AgCountry, in addition to all related AgCountry eligibility regulations.
  • Learns and trains others on supplemental, specialized and named peril products and endorsements, including livestock products.
  • Understands the benefits, costs and values of supplemental insurance and communicates relevant information to other team members and customers.
  • Develops and continually expands a high level of knowledge about production agriculture, commodity marketing, agricultural economics, technology, and other areas pertinent to the assigned portfolio, industry segment, and territory.

New Technology

  • Develops and maintains knowledge of new AIP technology for insurance processing and customer services. Understands the technologies, how they work and how they could benefit the Association or the customer.
  • Trains specialists, support staff and CP technicians on the new technologies, as needed.

Insurance Specialist Support

  • Delivers effective insurance services, as temporarily needed, in a back-up role to branch offices in the event of absence or departure of the existing insurance specialist.
  • Communicates to customers how our various products match up with their needs.
  • Packages AgCountry products in a contract that fits the customers’ need.
  • Understands how AgCountry products compete with those of our competitors.
  • Communicates and counsels customers as to how different MPCI coverage levels and Crop Hail packages can be used to maximize coverage and manage risk.
  • Reviews customer planting intentions to provide counsel on maximizing coverage and managing risk.
  • Communicates and counsels customers on Prevented Planting coverage and losses to maximize coverage and manage risk.
  • Provides solutions that effectively integrate AgCountry insurance products and services in a customized package designed to meet customer needs and behaviors.
  • Ensures all technical aspects of insurance processing and tracking, both internally and externally, are completed timely, accurately, and in compliance with all policy and procedure.
  • Responsible for maintaining branch technical competence in all phases of insurance product processing.
  • Coordinates branch insurance operations by communicating effectively regarding customer relations and other issues that may surface.
  • Monitors activities of branch insurance support staff and less experienced branch Insurance Specialists (if applicable) to ensure quality standards and customer service, and to reduce Errors and Omissions Liability exposure to AgCountry.
  • Acts as a liaison between insurance companies and branch staff and serves on multiple AgCountry standing and temporary committees.
  • Refers difficult and unusual situations to the SVP Insurance for further direction.

Sales and Marketing

  • Using a consultative sales method, teams with the loan officer to sell the AgCountry integrated package of financial services – specializing in insurance – to new and existing customers.
  • Conducts individual and group customer and prospect meetings.
  • Establishes networking relationships with individuals in the business and agricultural communities.
  • Maintains sales and marketing competence by participating in AgCountry sales and development training programs.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
  • Five to ten years of related experience.
  • Extremely high degree of knowledge of the insurance industry and all insurance products and services.
  • Highly developed analytical and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal relations skills.
  • Detail oriented, with strong research skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current crop insurance agent license with strong working knowledge of products.
