Position Summary:
The Department of Physics at Florida Atlantic University invites applications for one full-time, 12-month, renewable non-tenure-track instructor position, starting July 1, 2023. The successful candidate will be responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university
The person occupying this position will be the instructor of record for the General Physics I (PHY 2048L) and II (PHY 2049L) Laboratories and the Experimental Modern Physics Laboratory (PHY 4822L) and Physical Electronics (PHY 3722C). The person will establish the content of these laboratory courses in consultation with faculty responsible for the lecture sections, develops experiments, updates and oversees the creation of the instructional materials, gives pertinent or specialized laboratory lectures, and supervises the laboratory function and safety.
The Instructor will be involved in developing departmental policy for the General Physics and experimental modern physics laboratories. A central purpose of these laboratories is to introduce students to correct safety and laboratory procedures and proper utilization of equipment. Interpretation of University policy, including the correct and lawful implementation of safety procedures as developed by EH&S, the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science and the Department of Physics.
The Instructor participates with the faculty in its overall reviews of the B.A./B.S. programs, providing input on the laboratory offerings in General Physics and experimental modern physics. The Instructor of General Physics and Experimental Modern Physics Laboratories also is to maintain contact with the Instructors of Record for the lecture portion of General Physics (PHY 2048 and PHY 2049) to insure a logical coordination between theory and experiment.
The Instructor of General Physics and Experimental Modern Physics Laboratories is the direct supervisor of the physics electronic shop and the Electronics Technician Supervisor and of all graduate Teaching Assistants.

Minimum Qualifications:
