What we want
The Center for Teaching Excellence - English Language Proficiency Program is seeking an Instructional Consultant to provide linguistic support to instructors at Texas A&M University, especially international teaching assistants. The ideal candidate for this position understands the challenges of adult second language acquisition and can accelerate that acquisition by providing personalized, group, and online lessons in American English pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, the culture of the U.S. university classroom, and effective pedagogical practices. This position requires specialized skills in diagnostic assessment of speech, particularly L2 phonology. The CTE-ELP’s goal for its clients is comprehensibility and confidence, rather than accent elimination. In addition to interacting with scholars from around the world, the Instructional Consultant will also supervise undergraduate student workers and domestic volunteers who serve as conversation partners for the international instructors. If you enjoy working on a team to promote oral communication skills in academia, we invite you to apply for this opportunity.
