The Maintenance Electrician performs complex technical work, on a journeyman level, in the installation, operation, maintenance, modification, service and repair of electrical systems, equipment, fixtures and related electro-mechanical systems, in accordance with applicable Electrical Industry Codes. The Electrician inspects and tests elements of electrical systems to locate and diagnose faults and malfunctions, performs required repairs through replacement of inoperative parts or re-wiring of circuits, and provides an estimate of repair (and/or replacement) costs beyond the capability to perform. The Electrician also calculates branch circuit loads, interprets electrical wiring diagrams and schematics, and determines methods and requirements for wiring circuits.

Job Responsibilities

· Inspect on a routine basis electrical equipment, wiring, fixtures and other components to ensure they remain functional and are up to code, as well as to identify any hazards or issues.

· Determine the reasons for any malfunctions of systems or components and create a maintenance or repair plan to solve the problem.

· Repair electrical systems, wiring, circuit breakers, equipment and other components so that they remain at full functioning capacity.

· Test systems with devices such as voltmeters, and ohmmeters to ensure the system remains safe and that components are compatible.

· Review blueprints to understand the placement of wiring or to comprehend the working of the equipment to provide the right service and repairs.

· Provide suggestions on the lifespan of equipment and other electrical components, advising when certain components should be replaced due to potential risks.

· Keep records of all maintenance and repair work conducted, including a record of any supplies ordered and used.

· Ensure all routine maintenance work is handled on a regular schedule to reduce the risk of larger and more complex issues and to reduce costs.

· Interface with Corporate IT & Controls Engineers.

· Must be responsive to operational outages, 24/7 operation that will require off shift call outs.

· Additional duties as required.

Job Skills & Qualifications

Required:

· High school diploma or equivalent

· 3-5 years’ experience in electrical maintenance or associated work

· Strong verbal and oral communication skills

· Strong Problem-Solving Skills

Preferred:

· Familiarity with Rockwell Automation products including RSLogix5000

· Familiarity with the National Electrical Code

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $35.00 per hour

• Industrial electrician: 1 year (Preferred)
