Working at REI as an Industrial Engineer-Manufacturing , you will have the opportunity to drive continuous improvement and apply your technical knowledge and skills in a fast-paced, safety-conscious manufacturing environment in our Toner Processing and Packaging Department located in our Lawrenceville, GA campus. You will be responsible for performing routine engineering assignments to develop, test, implement, and document manufacturing processes and methods required to manufacture new and existing parts and/or products by product specifications, customer requirements, and quality standards.
Responsibilities include:
  • Develops, tests, implements, and documents routine to moderately complex operational sequences and processes in manufacturing new and existing parts and/or products.
  • Maintain safety awareness and support the implementation of prevention initiatives.
  • Estimates manufacturing costs, process time, and workforce requirements.
  • Consolidates, documents, and presents results for review.
  • Troubleshoots a variety of routine to moderately complex production problems involving manufacturing processes.
  • Investigates and determine the root cause of failures and problems.
  • Recommends countermeasures or changes in processing methods.
  • Conducts routine to moderately complex engineering trials and production process evaluations for manufacturing operations.
  • Analyzes production data and identifies trends, problems, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Recommends process adjustments to improve product quality and manufacturing efficiency and reduce material and workforce costs.
  • Creates, writes, and modifies work process procedures.
  • Conducts research, compiles data, and prepares reports.
  • Prepares and delivers presentations.
  • Prepares training materials and trains key production employees and production supervisors on new work procedures and manufacturing processes.
  • May design simple to moderately complex jigs and fixtures used in a small production project or portion of a larger project.
  • Observe and analyze the manufacturing process and offer recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Implement improvements and show the results of progress.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Qualified candidates will possess:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering; Industrial Engineer major or related field of study preferred.
  • 2-4 years of hands-on experience working in a manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Kaizen (Continuous Improvement) experience.
  • Strong technical problem-solving, root cause analysis, and cause prevention.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, models, technical plans, and drawings.
  • Proven ability to work on several projects simultaneously and independently under tight deadlines with driven results.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all levels and a diverse organization and adapt to different interpersonal styles and communication methods.
  • Must demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills and interact collaboratively with all departments within the Company.
  • Working knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology to produce various products.
  • Working knowledge of production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of goods.
  • Fluent in English (read, write, and speak); also Japanese a plus
  • Strong math skills (data analysis)
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, primarily Excel)
  • Ability to work occasional overtime.
