POSITION SUMMARY

The Recruiter/ HR Associate partners with the leadership team to attract, recruit and retain the best employees that align with our culture and core values. The Recruiter/ HR Associate coordinates all interviews with the hiring manager, recommends placements, facilitates orientation/onboarding sessions, and completes requested reports. They will use creative sourcing methods to attract candidates, ensure job descriptions are current, and postings reflect the Library's culture. This person will provide a positive candidate experience and a successful onboarding experience for new hires. The ideal candidate is team-oriented, collaborative, driven, and enjoys working in a support role.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops strategies to attract, recruit and retain a diverse applicant and employee base that align with the Library’s mission and core values.
  • Provides front desk assistance by answering staff and public questions.
  • Oversees applicant and new hire process. Administers background checks and offers of employment.
  • Submits job opportunity postings to all appropriate recruitment resources, including job boards and social media.
  • Collaborates with supervisor in conducting interviews for administrative/technical positions.
  • Collaborates with HR manager and department supervisors to maintain and update interview questions, develop relevant skills assessments, and administer assessments in conjunction with the interview process.
  • Participates in new hire employee orientation and assists with completing new hire paperwork.
  • Provides reports and statistics for management review as requested.
  • Maintains inventory of all job descriptions, forms, brochures, and literature of employment information/policies and relevant records.
  • Research and monitor data and trends. Advise hiring managers on best practices.
  • May serve as committee chair and assist with organizing Library sponsored employee events.
  • Attends professional development opportunities.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Federal, State, and local HR regulations.
  • May provide backup support for other HR staff.
  • Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Uses computer software programs such as Microsoft Office and spreadsheets for daily tasks and communication. Familiar with the use of database applications.
  • Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills working effectively with individuals of diverse cultures, communication styles, abilities, and backgrounds.
  • Uses problem-solving skills to assist in determining priorities, and finding timely solutions to departmental or system-wide issues.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 3 years of relevant experience in Human Resources
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) as well as Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
