Job Description:

Responsible for supervising the Hull, Mechanical and Electrical (HM&E) software development group. This group is responsible for planning, coordinating, prototyping and developing software applications used for monitoring, controlling and logging of HM&E ship systems. This group also develops software verification stimulation applications used for the qualification of application software.
This supervisor will work closely with other engineering disciplines to develop and deliver products that meet or exceed quality, cost, and schedule requirements. Responsibilities include capturing new work, development of estimates, budgets, schedules, optimal resource allocation, review and approval of software documentation and products, technical and administrative direction, personnel training and technical development, and continuous improvement activities. Demonstrated teamwork skills are required to allow the group to work effectively with the numerous groups, as well as the customers, they interface with. Candidates will also be responsible for establishing skill and competency development plans addressing employee growth and development.

Qualifications:
Required:
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Computer or Software Engineering, Computer Science or related technical degrees
  • Minimum 5 years related experience in software engineering discipline
Preferred:
  • Experience working with HME systems
Skills:
Ability to manage a group of engineers, while still meeting budget and schedule constraints. Project management experience, including development of estimates, schedules and metrics; and monitoring and controlling tasks and processes to completion is preferred.
Must have demonstrated experience implementing EB systems engineering processes. Candidates must be well organized and able to effectively collaborate with both internal and external organizations. This position requires strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to make presentations to the customer and EB management. The candidate should demonstrate a history of leadership and mentorship.
