As a patient housekeeper, you will excel at:
Keeping the hospital facilities in a clean and orderly condition to provide a safe environment for patients, visitors, physicians, and staff. While following directions, work schedules, procedures, methods and instructions with regard to the use of specific materials and equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Training: The ability to read and understand product labeling and performs simple mixing measurements. The ability to understand specific verbal or written instructions and procedures.
Experience: None required. Prefer previous knowledge of hospital cleaning techniques.
License/Registration: None required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Plans, implements, and evaluates all resources to achieve optimum operation.

2. Responds to departments requesting special cleaning needs.

3. Utilizes internal and external resources and consultants to obtain pertinent information to make good decisions.

6. Reports any area observed in poor repair to maintenance.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Removes bags of soiled linen and biomedical waste.
2. Mops/vacuums hallways and patient care areas.
3. Performs other non-essential functions as requested.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Standing/Walking: 100%.
Frequent lifting/pushing/pulling to mop floors, move carts, access supplies and move furniture.
Occasional carrying of custodial supplies.
Occasional climbing of stairs to reach other levels of the building and to use a two-step ladder.
Frequent balancing with the cleaning of low or high surfaces and to empty garbage.
Frequent stooping/kneeling/crouching to perform a wide variety of cleaning tasks.
Frequent reaching/handling to perform all cleaning tasks.
Frequent talking to communicate with staff, patients, and visitors.
Constant hearing/seeing to perform cleaning functions.
Frequent lifting of heavy objects which necessitate ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Location: Inside.
Frequent exposure to wet conditions with water, disinfecting and mopping solutions.
Frequent exposure to toxic and caustic chemicals in dealing with cleaning supplies.
Occasional exposure to biomedical waste with lab boxes and sharps containers.
