Davis & Floyd is currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Highway Inspector to join our Charleston or Columbia, SC Office. We are a multi-disciplined firm that has been providing quality engineering services to our clients since 1954. The ideal candidate will work in a strong team environment of highly motivated professionals for a family owned and oriented company that prides itself on integrity and quality.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following tasks:
- Responsible for necessary inspection services for earthwork and base, asphalt, erosion, and other construction related items
- Be familiar with and be able to execute SCDOT policies and procedures as it relates to construction
- Must be able to interact and communicate effectively with colleagues and client representatives
- Ensure that all new construction is completed in accordance with plans, specifications, special provisions, standard drawings, and other contract documents
- Ensure that all construction projects are properly inspected
- Prepare daily inspection and contractor performance reports
- Ensure that design and construction is in accordance with the client's concerns and permit requirements
- Compile closing packages
- Record as-built revisions and review with contractor
- Coordinate individual inspections with contractors across multiple contracts.
Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of experience preferred
- SCDOT project experience required
- Valid driver's license required
- Certifications required:
- SCDOT Asphalt Roadway Technician (ART)
- SCDOT Earthwork, Drainage & Base Inspector
- Certifications preferred:
- SCDHEC Certified Erosion Prevention & Sediment Control Inspector
- ACI Concrete Field Technician Level 1
- SCDOT Portland Cement Certification
