Open Position: Heavy Equipment Mechanic
The Position
The Heavy Equipment Mechanic manages and performs the scheduled maintenance program and all repairs of our fleet consisting of motor graders, rollers, loaders, scrapers, skid steers, light and medium duty trucks, lowboy, dump truck, various trailers, small saws/engines and slip form pavers. This is a working position that will perform the work solo, with other company employees or scheduled with vendors to accomplish the work. Critical to your success will be: maximize mechanical availability and minimize equipment breakdown time. No nights, and weekends will be rare.
Specific Duties:
- Oversees, updates and performs the scheduled maintenance program for truck and heavy equipment fleet
- Prioritizes and performs unscheduled and emergency repairs in the field. Schedules with vendors when necessary
- Maintain up to date service records for all work performed
- Daily monitoring of electronic DVIR system to know communicated issues from the field
- Keep equipment issues tracker up to date and communicates issues out to key stakeholders to ensure problems, nature of repair and status of repairs are understood and followed up on
- Orders replacement parts
- Champion safety every day so that everyone goes home safe
- Vehicle and trailer maintenance, PM service, small repairs, and DOT compliance
- Light fabrication and welding
- Workshop management
- Diagnoses and troubleshoots machine and engine malfunctions and failures
- Reads and understands the manufacture’s’ Operation, Maintenance, and Service Manuals per machine type and complies with its contents
- Perform repairs to manufacturer specifications including but not limited to engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions and clutches, drive-line, differential, steering and suspension, fuel and ignition system, exhaust systems (including regeneration systems), intake systems, electrical systems, brake systems, HVAC systems and lift-gate hydraulic, mechanical and electrical systems.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of mechanic repair and maintenance experience with heavy equipment
- Valid drivers license
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with and operational knowledge of modern slip form pavers
- Welding
- Experience with equipment tracking programs such as Verizon Reveal
- Active CDL license
- Financial and equipment cost accounting experience

Pay: $32.00 - $40.00 per hour
