Koch Methanol, LLC is currently seeking a Health and Safety Manager to provide leadership and strategic direction for its methanol production facility in St. James, Louisiana. This is an exciting opportunity to help continue developing Health and Safety capabilities and culture for its recently constructed methanol production facility. This role will manage a team of Health and Safety professionals and will report to the EHS Leader. The H&S Manager will provide leadership and direction to the St. James Team to achieve our H&S vision through management commitment and employee ownership. The H&S Manager will work to build capability within their Team and partner with front-line leadership and the operations workforce to improve overall health, safety, and risk management. The role will work directly with the Leadership Team to identify risk reduction opportunities that are aligned with the company’s vision.
What You Will Do In Your Role
- Lead to achieve the H&S vision by establishing and executing strategies through management commitment and employee ownership & accountability
- Develop a well-rounded Health & Safety team by identifying needed capabilities and ensuring the right people are in the right roles to create an environment of Transformation and Self-Actualization
- Facilitate H&S ownership and accountability by the front-line organization by establishing clearly defined roles, responsibilities, and expectations
- Build employee relationships and advancing HS knowledge and hazard mitigation through coaching, mentoring, training, and employee engagement/empowerment
- Drive H&S excellence by developing and implementing risk and compliance management systems
- Utilize data to identify and understand risks, provide visibility to teams, and partner to develop, prioritize and execute strategies that result in industry leading Health & Safety Performance
- Develop strategies for emerging facility needs and initiatives, especially those related to risk reduction with asset strategies and process safety ventures
- Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements for safety & health, including training
- Apply Human & Organization Performance (HOP) concepts so the facility becomes a robust learning environment where knowledge sharing occurs in an expedited manner
- Communicate with business unit health and safety and other personnel to assure alignment with business vision, strategy, and programs
- Enhance the site capabilities in critical hazard program management, including hazardous energy control; fall protection, mobile equipment, and pedestrian interactions; cranes and rigging, work permitting; emergency preparedness; etc.
The Experience You Will Bring
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of demonstrated Health and Safety or other leadership experience within the chemical or oil and gas industry
Or
- At least 7 years of demonstrated Health and Safety experience within the chemical or oil and gas industry
What Will Put You Ahead
- Safety Professional (CSP) or the ability to sit for and pass the examination
- Knowledge of Human & Organizational Performance (HOP) concepts and methods
- Demonstrated knowledge of Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Occupational Safety, Process Safety Management, Emergency Response, and Fire Protection
