- Master’s degree from an accredited college/university with particular emphasis on health education or public health.
- A valid Michigan teacher’s certificate is preferred.
- MDE HIV Certification preferred.
- Experience establishing community partnerships preferred.
- Minimum three (3) years of successful professional experience in one or more of following fields: health education, substance abuse prevention education, grant management and technical assistance, reproductive health education
- Training skills and presentation experience with adult learners. Ability to model effective instructional methods for teachers and administrators is required.
- Consultation and technical assistance skills in assessment, implementation, follow-up, and evaluation of curriculum, policy, programs and services.
- Requires a high degree of technical knowledge in one or more of the following: educational leadership, effective instruction, curriculum development, health education, career readiness skills, and student services.
- Requires supervisory skills, and excellent communication/interpersonal skills to deal effectively with superiors, peer, subordinates, and educators in LEAs.
- Requires ability to travel extensively in order to provide leadership and services in health and substance abuse prevention education instruction.
- Requires ability to maintain flexible scheduling in hours and days in order to meet constituent needs.
- Coordinates, plans, and conducts professional development training in health education and student services to administrators and teachers from constituent districts. Works in collaboration with a team of staff members to conduct trainings at times.
- Prepares grant applications, budgets, program evaluations, program management reports and records as required by the Michigan Department of Education, the Michigan Department of Public Health, the District and other program funding sources.
- Provides consultation, professional development and technical assistance to constituent LEAs on health education policy development, curriculum/program assessment and evaluation.
- Promotes the development and/or expansion of health education programs for LEAs
- Reviews, selects, orders, organizes and disseminates related curriculum or project materials.
- Maintains high level, training, facilitation, and presentation skills for conducting continuing education programs for professional educators.
- Represents the District at national, local, and state planning meetings and training sessions; communicates and cooperates with other state/regional program administrators, trainers and consultants.
- May supervise designated professional, clerical, contracted, and technical staff to accomplish the responsibilities of the position.

Broad Statement of Responsibilities:
Provides coordination, training and consultant services in comprehensive school health education primarily to thirty-two local educational agencies (LEAs) in three counties (REMC Region 8).
Selected services are provided to twenty additional districts in Region 7.
Essential Job Qualifications Required:
Salary: Professional 215-day Salary Schedule Grade 7; $68,805-$71,585 per year
