POSITION: HEAD COOK/KITCHEN SUPERVISOR
COMPANY: Suite Living Senior Care
LOCATION(S): Ramsey, MN
SHIFT: FT Days (Monday-Friday, 8 hour shift)
PAY RANGE: $20-25/hr (Depending On Experience, Negotiable)
***This position requires a valid SERVSAFE and CFPM (certified food protection manager) certifications/licensure at time of hire.***
SUMMARY:
The Dietary Manager/Head Cook position is responsible for overseeing the entire kitchen and culinary services department within the community. The community has 32 beds in Memory Care + Assisted Living. This role is very independent in that you will be solely responsible for the full management and oversight of the kitchen operations, including menu planning and meal preparation using batch cooking methods. This position will NOT be responsible for the management or supervision of other employees or staff members.
RESPONSIBLITIES & DUTIES:
- Must have thorough knowledge of nutrition, recipes and special dietary needs, e.g. what to substitute for residents, etc.
- Properly and safely operate all the equipment in the kitchen. Ensure the cleanliness of the kitchen and kitchen equipment.
- Order food, inventory and supplies on a regular basis. Work with vendors.
- Adhere to a monthly budget while maintaining integrity of menus.
- Plan for special events, activities, and work with Housing Director, residents, and families in planning private gatherings, etc.
- Coordinate with Nurse Manager to assure that each resident on a special diet is accommodated to the extent permitted by our program.
- Accommodate resident's requests promptly, if appropriate, e.g. substitute for foods that cause heartburn, etc.
- Smoothly integrate proper safety sanitation techniques as part of the work, e.g. washes hands, wears proper equipment for safety, and uses cleaning products properly.
- Responsible for labeling, dating, and rotating stock.
- Report accidents and injuries immediately to the Housing Director.
- Prepare for week ahead and evening meals.
- Prepare for Weekend Cook and leave instructions as needed.
- Abide by requirements of the Food & Beverage License.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of a High School Diploma
- Minimum of 1 year related experience as a Head Cook/Chef, Dietary Manger, Culinary Supervisor, or similar role in a Senior Living environment
- Must have ServSafe Certification upon hire
- Must have Certified Food Manager (CFPM) upon hire
