Position: Grants Associate

Location: Beaverton, Oregon (Hybrid Potential)

Status: 40 hours per week

Salary: $24.04/hour (estimated annual salary $50K)

HomePlate, a nonprofit leader in the field of providing services for youth experiencing houselessness in Washington County, is looking for a dynamic new member to join our development team. HomePlate started in 2005 with $3,000 and a vision of helping youth in houseless and unstably housed situations find stability. Currently, Beaverton has the highest rate of student homelessness in the state of Oregon. With a budget of $3,100,000 and 28 staff, we operate youth drop-in, street outreach, employment and housing navigation and placement services. HomePlate successfully connects 500 unstably housed youth with community members each year. Together they work towards meeting youth-identified education, housing, employment, medical, and other goals.

Overview

Currently, HomePlate’s operations are made up of over 50% government grants and 14% private foundation grants. The Grants Associate is a new role and will work as part of a small but experienced team to support organizational growth and impact. The overall responsibility of the Grants Associate will manage HomePlate’s grant calendar for submitting and reporting, coordinating the process across the entire life cycle of each grant to provide the resources necessary for HomePlate to achieve its Mission.

Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to:

  • Work alongside the Development team to research various types of grants available and the criteria to qualify for each.
  • Compile necessary information for the application process through intra- and cross-departmental collaboration with other employees, database research, and other fact finding actions and meetings.
  • Support the drafting of grant applications according to application requirements. Coordinate and communicate with HomePlate’s grant writer for written proposal development.
  • Take the lead in developing drafts of reports, and other attachments and materials as needed, including budgets, logic models, supplemental narratives, program descriptions, etc.
  • Complete revisions and edits as agreed.
  • Register in, maintain login credentials for, and submit proposals through various online portals.
  • In consultation with team members, manage an annual grants plan, using HomePlate’s grant tracking tool as a template.
  • Create and assign tasks for grants plan implementation in HomePlate’s shared project management platform, Asana.
  • Manage day-to-day updates in the grant tracking tool, and grants timeline tasks (including reporting deadlines) in Asana.
  • Serve as a liaison between team members in the budgeting and preparation of grant proposals
  • Ensure grants and reports are submitted on time and within application parameters.
  • Coordinate all supporting documents, forms, or reports required by the grant.
  • Coordinate the monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of programs and projects that are funded by grants.
  • Develop and maintain master files on grants and paperwork connected to programs funded by grants.
  • Develop and maintain additional systems for recording and tracking grant proposals, awards, and related information as needed.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • Ability to coordinate and manage grant proposal processes and supporting materials.
  • Interest in joining our team at an exciting time of organizational growth and systems-building.
  • Ability to communicate information in a way that facilitates team planning and decision-making
  • Comfortable working independently, while also being proactive about communicating project needs.
  • Ability to determine informational needs, and collect, analyze, and apply needed information.
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Ability to set realistic deadlines for drafts, reviews, approvals, and other tasks.
  • Database management skills. Experience with Asana and Salesforce is a plus.
