POSITION SUMMARY
The Grant Accountant is primarily responsible for supporting proposal preparation and submission, reporting and compliance, and functions as co-Program Director on the New York State Erie 21 grant and the CARE grant. This position will allocate time between the New York State Erie 21 grant and the CARE grant, 75% and 25% respectively. This is a grant funded position, contingent on funding being secured.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Job duties specific to this position:
- Maintain and document programmatic and financial records for the grant programs.
- Co-principal investigators (PI) on the New York State Erie 21 grant and the CARE grant responsible for the preparation of pre-award documents and subsequent budget modifications.
- Assists with the development of proposed grant budgets ensuring compliance and financial allowability of grant related expenditures.
- Responsible for compliance with applicable external and internal requirements, including state and federal regulations, subcontracting and sub-recipient requirements.
- Evaluates the budget to actual analysis on a monthly basis and forecasts the remaining spending with the award period.
- Prepares financial reports for grant programs, including initial budgets, reimbursement requests, final financial reports and requests for proposals.
- Monitor expenditure activity, resolve discrepancies, and evaluate allowability.
- Works with Sponsored Accounting to comply with the grant agency's terms and conditions for all post-award implementation and reporting.
- Monitors student rosters for grant programs, verifying and maintaining accurate information as determined by eligibility guidelines within each of the individual grants.

- Performs a variety of related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- A Bachelor's Degree is required with preference for a bachelor's degree in accounting.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in grants management or equivalent combination of education and work experience in accounting.
- Professional certification (e.g. CPA, CIA) or pursuing a professional certification is preferred.
- Strong knowledge and experience with Federal and State grant reporting.
- Ability to read and comprehend rules, regulations, and contract guidelines.
- Mature and professional attitude towards all faculty members, administrators, community partners and funding sources.
- Excellent writing, communications, organizational, interpersonal and computer skills.
- Must be detailed-oriented.
- Ability to implement and/or improve established financial policies and processes.
- Ability to utilize sound fiscal accounting practices and procedures to account for receipt of grant funds and prepare necessary reports.
- Ability to maintain discretion regarding confidential or proprietary information (e.g., payroll, contract terms)
- Demonstrated ability to work on several projects simultaneously, often under tight deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
