Position Summary:
This position is located in Topeka at the Eisenhower State Office Building within the bureau of Structures & Geotechnical Services. The employee is the engineer responsible for Highway Data Validation and participates in data processing, research and analysis via data mining, system requirement design, specification documentation, and preparation of specialized statistical reports and cartographic. The position is required to write code, test, debug, maintain and document programs to validate spatial databases containing highway, crash, bridge, rail crossing, airport, and other transportation related data. Most of the highway data is held in K-Hub. K-Hub is comprised of spatially and logically complex, related SQL server tables which are accessed using ArcGIS Roads and Highways Linear Referencing System and Standard Query Language (SQL). K-Hub contains GIS based inventory data for the State Highway System, and all public Roads in Kansas. It also has locations of State Highway System Bridges and Public At-Grade Railroad Crossings.
Qualifications:
Education
- Graduate from an ABET (Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology) accredited engineering school.
Licensing & Certification
- Fundamentals in Engineering (FE) or EIT Certificate.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- Working understanding of geographic principles and processes, GIS and Spatial analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two or more years of experience in a combination of the following progressively responsible roadway inventory; construction plan interpretation or information systems related experience; road construction experience; geographic information systems; computer programming experience or education.
- Working knowledge of any of the following desirable: Windows Operating System and Microsoft Office Suite; Microsoft SQL, SQL server management studio; GIS software such as ESRI ArcMap or ArcPro; Crystal Reports, WeBI, JavaScript, business intelligence tools.

Pay: $66,518.40 - $68,182.40 per year
