Organization: Boys & Girls Club of Portage County (non-profit, youth service)Hours: Part-Time
School Year
Monday - Friday 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Non-School Days 8:30 AM - 1:30 PM
Summer
Monday-Friday 7:30-1:30 PM (hours vary pending shift)
Location: Berard Center, Plover Center (Stevens Point)
Reports to: Food Service Coordinator Position and Program Summary: Food Service Program Assistant assists with the implementation of the Boys & Girls Club of Portage County food service program by prepping and serving food to Club members. This program helped serve free meals to over 800 youth in 2021. A portion of these youth struggle with food insecurity and the impact this program has on the well-being of Portage County would only be amplified by a candidate who exemplifies a caring attitude and desire to help others.
Qualifications:
- Must be able to work with limited supervision as well as part of a team.
- Must be able to meet deadlines
- Possess a valid State Driver’s License
- Some experience in the food industry is preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively with children and staff from diverse backgrounds, as well as a range of other organizational personnel in a courteous and professional manner
- Some ability to deal with the general public
- Ability to work independently as well as in groups
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- Active environment that requires the employee to be on their feet for several hours at a time
- Some lifting and moving of moderately sized objects
- Some driving may be necessary
Responsibilities:
- Prepares meal service following guidelines of Department of Public Instruction/USDA
- Assists in meal preparation including heating, stirring, cutting, and other similar duties
- Assists in meal serving including distributing proper portions of food in a cafeteria lineup
- Work with food specialist volunteers
- Implements food handling safety procedures
- Assists with attendance records for food programs
- Responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization of kitchen and cafe
- Maintains positive interactions and a friendly disposition with Boys & Girls Club members and parents
- Completes special projects as assigned by the supervisor
- Able to be First Aid/CPR Certified
- Must be able to pass a reference and background check
- May participate in special programs and/or events
- Assist in or handle special assignments or other duties as deemed necessary or important by the supervisor
