Overview
Responsible for the timely and quality production of meals for children, in addition to special center functions. Responsible for the procurement of all food and supplies needed to operate the kitchen efficiently. Responsible for updating the menu in accordance with VDH and Joint Commission guidelines and RSMH Nutrition Services recommendations. Ensures the kitchen is kept in sanitary condition and remains in compliance with all Health Department and Virginia State Licensing Standards.

What you will do
- Maintains excellent communication skills with parents, children, and co-workers regarding special diets and/or allergies and provides alternatives for such cases.
Ensures that all food and drink served is prepared properly, is the proper temperature, and is in the proper serving size.
Ability to place food and supply orders based on the needs of the center, with low to no waste, using a monthly budget.
Ensures that the delivery of meals is within the center's regulated meal times.
Keeps menu changes to a minimum and is effective when communicating such changes to parents and staff.
Consistently seeks out new products that better meet the needs of the center and are more financially sound.
Provides resources for parents and staff in regards to health and nutrition practices.
Consistently demonstrates ability to assist/carry out the duties of providing nutritional meals for Special Functions in timely manner.
Qualifications
Education
- , High school or equivalent (Required)
Experience
- 1-3 years Food production/management experience (Required)
Licenses and Certifications
- Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) - Association of Nutrition & Foodservice Professionals (Required)
Food Handlers Card (FH) - State Food Safety (Required)
CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) (Required)
First Aid - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) (Required)
