MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE NEEDED:

Must have High School Diploma;

Must be able to handle a physically demanding day-to-day workload and be skilled at filing to include the ability to lift and or transport material weighing up to 25 pounds and the ability to work at a fast pace with high accuracy; Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office products;

Must be detail oriented and possess the ability to work independently with strict adherence to confidentiality; Must have excellent telephone communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills; and

Must have the ability to understand and follow verbal and instructions, the ability to communicate with diverse groups of individuals utilizing tact and diplomacy, and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, county employees and the general public.

Must have satisfactory performance in prior employment.

DESIRED AND/OR PREFERRED

Previous work experience in a prosecutorial or other legal setting;

Criminal justice experience to include basic knowledge of court and legal terminology; Ability to interact with all levels of staff; and

Receptionist and multi-line telephone experience.

JOB DUTIES

The file clerk is responsible for maintaining an efficient filing system in two separate file rooms for case files; pulling files for appropriate hearings; retrieving files for staff as needed for phone calls and hearings; and other assigned duties. The file clerk is also responsible for daily and weekly court schedules and the daily in-custody list to include locating files and organizing the list for the attorneys, as well as organizing and distributing files to attorneys for current hearings and hearings scheduled in the future.

The file clerk assists in the printing of notifications and service documents as well as locating the files for the printed documents. The file clerk may be responsible for answering and fielding incoming phone calls and for greeting individuals as they come into the office during the receptionists' lunch breaks or absences from work.

Timely and regular attendance is required as is the ability to interact productively with co-workers and satisfactorily perform the duties and functions of the job. The job requires considerable movement throughout the office, which is located on two separate floors as well as the Courthouse throughout the workday.
