Position Summary:
Performs engineering work to tailor AG (TX) products to customer needs – thereby, making company products more competitive in the market place. Assists customers and researches technical information for all product lines in order to provide excellent customer service and maximize sales. Participates in design process and consults with engineering for drawing/design changes and corrections. Provides off-road equipment repair service in order to respond to customer needs in a positive, pro-active and timely manner. Builds rapport with customers through technical expertise and by providing quality service. Responds to engineering product directives for matters requiring troubleshooting, testing, updates, documentation and completion of field repairs. Occasionally performs tasks requiring welding, machining, fabrication, assembly of prototype parts and completion of assemblies - in accordance with company tolerance specifications as required by engineering sketches and drawings. Prepares and performs testing on new parts, products and materials and makes recommendations. Performs design work and other engineering functions in order to meet response to the customer.
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Troubleshoots and resolves equipment problems by performing quality audits and parts checks.
- Consults with engineering staff for drawing/design changes and corrections. Participates in design process when required.
- Responsible for engineering projects designed to meet customer needs.
- Functions as primary connection between Engineering and the customer for the definition of custom equipment.
- Compiles field/customer information and makes recommendations to management to address customer needs.
- Represents company by traveling to customer/field locations to investigate/resolve customer concerns and addresses warranty issues.
- Compiles/analyzes and presents customer data to management for use in developing short and long term product plans.
- Troubleshoots and repairs equipment at customer field locations.
- Works with engineers to address warranty issues and eliminate production problems.
- Manages work area and organizes parts for prototype builds.
- Prepares equipment for testing and operates equipment/assists during testing per engineering instructions.
- Operates equipment after completion to perform durability and required testing.
- Troubleshoots, diagnoses and repairs hydraulic, electrical and powertrain systems.
- Performs CanBus programming changes or updates to meet service needs.
- Creates and maintains up-dates on equipment service manuals.
- Creates detailed reports and provides management with weekly summary of service related information.
- Performs detailed /calibrated tests and evaluates equipment at the plant or in the field.
- Coordinates customer visits, machine evaluations, parts deliveries, and service work with little to no supervision.
- Uses and reads precision measuring devices to ensure compliance with exact tolerances.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):
- Knowledge of farm equipment or have high mechanical aptitude.
- Knowledge of the Supply Chain Development process is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills required, both verbal and written. Good Human Relations Skills necessary.
- Must be able to work independently, prioritize work schedule, multi-task and work under pressure in order to meet goals/objectives.
- Good leadership skills required, ability to problem solve, persuade and motivate is essential.
- Ability to read and use precision measuring devices and equipment, including micrometers, multi-meters and calipers.
- Understand and troubleshoot CanBus electronics and software in off-road equipment.
- Experience with mobile hydraulic systems, pumps, motors, valves and controls.
- Preferred – Troubleshooting, knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems in mobile equipment.
- Preferred – Knowledge of fabrication, machining and assembly operations and ability to perform these functions.
- Must have good math skills, technical communication skills and up-to-date computer skills with an interest in learning newer software tools.

Education and Experience:
- College Degree preferred
- Experience in Cummins engines a plus
- 5 years' experience in heavy equipment environment preferred
Working Conditions:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand for prolonged periods.
- Must be able to lift 35 pounds alone and greater than 35 pounds with assistance.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment while performing work in production environment.
- Operates forklift and overhead crane to move parts and materials.
- Must have current, insurable driver's license as this position requires travel to customer locations.
- Must be able to work overtime (including weekends) as needed to complete job assignments.
