PIA Automation US seeks a Field Service Controls Engineer as part of our Customer Service Team.
Responsibilities:
- Be the face of the company by demonstrating professionalism and providing the highest level of customer support at customer facilities.
- Provide software (PLC’s and robots) support on equipment in the field.
- Develop, install, and debug software modifications for new components on equipment in the field.
- Install, commission, and service PIA machines at customer’s site.
- Ability to seek out critical information (data) from equipment and customer to achieve solutions to problems.
- Be able to formulate a troubleshooting plan based on failure trends.
- Documents service and installation actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
- Maintains report with customers by examining issues; identifying solutions; suggesting improved methods and techniques; and recommending system improvements.
- When not in the field, work with our software development team at our US Facility in Evansville, Indiana.
- Collaborate with customers to gain a common understanding of intended machine function.
- Troubleshoot electric, hydraulic, and pneumatic circuits (utilizing all applicable circuit diagrams).
- Participate in off-hours support rotation
- Ability to work flexible shifts and to adapt to changing work schedules (often due to equipment availability)
- Travel requirement up to 50%
Qualifications
- AAS technical degree with an automation focus is required OR prior company-provided Allen-Bradley training.
- Experience in an industrial automation tech (or engineer) capacity in a manufacturing facility, is a plus.
- Well-rounded exposure to pneumatic and fluid control systems is preferred
- Must be able to read electrical, fluid, and pneumatic diagrams
- Must be familiar with foundation and component (mechanical) prints
- Skilled at troubleshooting machinery, especially via PLC code and various types of diagrams.
- Experience with Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens PLC’s is a plus
- Robot experience is a plus.
- Firm understanding of machine safety standards
- Strong interpersonal and technical writing skills are a must.
- Must be proficient with MS Excel and Word.
- Ability to travel to customer sites (some international)
