With guidance from the HSSE Manager, implements and leads the organization’s safety initiatives at various field construction sites to maintain a safe work environment for employee, subcontractors, and clients. Implements safety programs, policies, and procedures based on company and client requirements. Ensures field’s compliance and record-keeping with all safety rules, regulations, and laws.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (following are accountabilities included but not limited to):

. Helps the HSSE Manager develop and implement safety initiatives.

. Ensures that federal, state, and local laws, as well as client regulations, rules, and codes are observed at the assigned location.

. Assists in gathering and reporting information for recordkeeping and reporting requirements.

. Assists in the coordination of training and orientation for new and existing field employees.

. Coordinates with HSSE Manager, as well as project supervision and project management on addressing HSSE concerns or hazards.

. Assists in developing controls for identified hazards, coordinates the implementation of controls at project locations.

. Measures and evaluates the effectiveness of the hazard controls, policies and procedures, and recommends changes to eliminate work place accidents and injuries.

. Identifies and evaluates hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace, conducts and coordinates on-site inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work practices. Provides advice and counseling for all compliance regulations.

. Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.

. Investigates, analyzes, compiles, and reports information on all incidents and reports them to the HSE Coordinator.

. Assists in developing and implementing corrective measures to prevent incidents.

. Monitors updates in safety regulations, laws, or client-specific HSSE requirements.

. Assists as necessary in procuring project safety supplies.

. Takes direction well, but acts when needed without direction.

. Assists in implementing drug free workplace policy and procedures.

. Inspects and audits facilities and work practices then recommends corrective action or additional precautions to ensure compliance.

. Other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the business.

Education, Training and Experience

. Must be aware of federal, state and local safety laws to ensure the organization complies with all regulations.

. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the safety and health field.

. Five or more years of related experience in HSSE or equivalent combination of education and experience.

. Associates Degree or Bachelors’ degree in Engineering or related field is preferred.
