At Eustis Engineering, we work toward being the industry standard for geotechnical services on
private, commercial, industrial, and government projects. We provide quality services to our

One of the essential steps on many projects requires a Field Geologist. The Field Geologist will
provide planning, drafting, and technical support to the engineering staff including field
assignments. The Field Geologist will also provide supplemental and technical support for the
drilling, laboratory, and CMT departments.
Assignments are primarily in the State of Louisiana with some out-of-state projects. Assignments
may require overtime, weekend, and out-of-town assignments. Frequently, duties are
performed concurrently at several job sites and occasionally at sites of considerable distance
from each other. The Field Geologist must have an appropriate motor vehicle operation license
and have the ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.
Specific responsibilities include the following:
- assist with drafting and planning using MicroStation, gINT, ArcGIS, and Google Earth;
- recognize and convert GPS coordinates between various formats;
- obtain, reduce, and present geotechnical instrumentation data;
- obtain, reduce, and present geophysical testing data;
- import and export laboratory test data and present in various formats (e.g., USACE,
- reduce and plot pile load test data;
- perform field testing (e.g. CPT, resistivity, infiltration, falling or rising head piezometer
- assist the engineering staff in planning and coordinating site access for field explorations;
- coordinate utility locations (Louisiana One Call);
- obtain permits for site access;
- assist project geologist with geologic mapping resources;
- being responsible for application of the general safety requirements and other
- being responsible for inspecting work areas, making safety recommendations, noting
- on an as needed basis, working as a soil technician, CMT technician, and/or laboratory
- other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant geological field from an ABET accredited school is
