POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position:
Human Trafficking Family Advocate Reports to: Program Coordinator
New 32-Hour Workweek!-Lake FRC promotes work/life balance and the self-care of our staff. We have modified our work schedules to include a 3-day off model for staff to unwind and refresh.
SUMMARY:
Responds in-person and to calls from human trafficking victims. Provides emergency services as necessary to persons experiencing human trafficking through advocacy and peer counselling.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide crisis intervention services, mobile advocacy, support, case management, safety planning and goal setting and other advocacy services, as needed.
- Provide coverage on rotating basis for Community Crisis Line during off hours and on the weekends.
- Provide coverage for 24-hour community crisis line during office hours.
- Provide emergency one-on-one peer counseling to victims of human trafficking. Refer people recovering to therapeutic services as needed.
- Respond to hospitals and law enforcement agencies in assisting victims.
- Prepare and give presentations to community groups about program services.
- Provide short term one-on-one counseling, follow-up case management, and advocacy to human trafficking victims.
- Facilitate workshops focusing on human trafficking education and.
- Work closely with the Service Coordinator to develop and facilitate curriculum and collateral materials used in workshops, community education programs, outreach, and other special events.
- Assist in development and promotion of special events, media literacy campaigns, community education programs.
- Development, focus testing and evaluation of presentation curriculum.
- Prepare and give presentations to community groups about program services.
- Maintaining accurate data collection and completion of forms and assessments.
- Provide presentations to community organizations on a variety of topics.
- Represent and promote education programs and support groups to various sectors of the community including schools and community organizations.
- Facilitate Support Groups.
- Compile accurate data and develop narrative descriptions of the program activities, goals, as needed for reports and funders.
- Maintain confidential client records.
- Participate in trainings and collaboration with referral agencies.
- Provide culturally sensitive service and work with representatives of underserved ethnic groups and under-served target groups.
- Provide support groups for victims of human trafficking in other agencies as requested.
- Provide accurate documentation, data collection, completion of reports, and forms.
- Other duties as assigned.
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:
Degree in Human Services related field preferred or combination of education and/or experience providing culturally competent relevant, sensitive counseling, education, and information to target population. Experience with sexual assault and domestic violence victims preferred. State Mandated 65-Hour Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Counselor Certificate qualification required (offered by LFRC). Bi-cultural and bi-lingual sensitivity (Spanish) an advantage.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in indoor environments and occasionally in outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually mild to moderate.
