Extrusion Tooling Manufacturing Engineer/Technologist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced individual to join our manufacturing company as a Tooling Engineer or Technologist. As part of our team, you will engage and be hands-on with processes for the manufacturing of tooling in support of our customers’ thermoplastic and composite extrusion processes. You will participate in the design of new tools, support of day-to-day operations, and continuous improvement activities to drive advancements in our technology and processes.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead and support continuous improvement opportunities around safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
- Research, identify, and recommend new technologies in equipment, software, work holding/fixturing, cutting tools, and machining or manufacturing methods.
- Create, maintain, and audit documentation around manufacturing practices, quality control, machine/personnel safety, and environmental procedures etc.
- Manage purchasing of materials, shop supplies, tooling, consumables etc.
- Support maintenance of facility and equipment through internal actions and communication with external professional services
- Communicate regularly with technology, finance, and operations leadership to provide job/project status and financial updates.
Additional possible opportunities/responsibilities:
- Tooling Design and machine programing (AutoCad, Inventor, Mastercam software use)
- Lead projects in technology advancements, capital investments, and manufacturing process improvements
- Production floor scheduling and supervision
- Building, maintaining, using ERP tools or software to manage business activities such as accounting, procurement, scheduling, project management etc.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Associates Degree in technical field preferred, machine tool trade or engineering favored, and significant field experience considered.
- 5 + years’ experience in machine tool / Tool & Die industry, Extrusion tooling manufacturing or development experience excellent
- Thorough understanding of common metal removal processes such as CNC machining, Wire EDM, surface grinding, manual machining & turning, polishing, and tooling assembly.
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Must be an adept and experienced problem solver who is able to determine root cause of technical issues and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.
- Exposure/Experience in CNC programming preferred
- This is a working engineering/technologist role with expectations of high percentage of hands-on activity out on shop floor with willingness to step into manufacturing support when needed.

Profit Sharing:
During 2022, each eligible Andersen employee will receive $1,000 for each full fiscal quarter they are actively employed and fully vaccinated against COVID-19. An eligible employee hired during a quarter will receive a prorated payment based on the number of days employed during the quarter. Those eligible include fully-vaccinated regular full-time and part-time employees (at least 20 hours per week) who are not subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
