The New York City ESL School and Mercy International Pathway Director will oversee and be responsible for all operations, finances, academics, compliance, and management of the OIEG New York ESL School and Mercy International Pathways Program for Oxford International Educational Group (OIEG).

This position will oversee a staff and is responsible for ensuring the following areas are managed for the New York Operations of OIEG.

  • General School Operations, which include but are not limited to managing to budget, accounts receivable and expenses, classroom and schedule planning, student information management
  • School and program success KPIs including student enrolment, student retention and progression, student satisfaction, overall academic success of students and program quality.
  • Oversee Student services such as student advising, accommodation, activities, registration
  • Manage staff: Instructors, sales & admissions, student services and IELTS administrators
  • Quality Control & Compliance (accreditation, licensure)
  • Academic Programs delivered at New York City ESL School and Mercy International Pathways (ESL, IELTS & Pathway) & Groups including Juniors
  • Oversee and manage sales, admissions and marketing for the ESL School

Key Responsibilities and Expectations

  • As a member of the leadership team, provide leadership to the New York school and across the company as needed.
  • Primary Oxford international Education Group liaison with Mercy College
  • Maintain a management structure with clear communication lines for all employees. Build a collaborative work culture where all team members can do their best work.
  • Ensure all Oxford International Quality Standards are adhered to at all times. Ensure implementation of school rules and regulations
  • Work closely with Mercy College to lead and manage the pathway program’s operations and services, including finance, marketing, real estate, recruitment of administrative and support staff, student services, procedures, scheduling of classes and teachers.
  • Accountable for the employee experience at the New York ESL School and Mercy international Pathway Program. Oversee all aspects of the school's Human Resources including selection, recruitment, contracts, reviews, grievances, disciplinary action, and dismissal of staff. Oversee all teammates at the school either directly or through managers.
  • Ensure all documentation (including financial) is received and up to date for all staff, vendors, partners and students.
  • Ensure all necessary associations, accreditations, licenses, civic, state, national, and international registrations, filings, other compliance requirement registrations are kept up-to-date, followed, and enforced
  • Manage company business development, activities and projects as assigned
  • Ensure counselling of students in accordance with school guidelines and pathway program guidelines
  • Be the contact for internal teammates and local centre expert in New York for other Oxford International Education Group educational programs delivered in New York ESL School, such as year round study groups and Juniors, as and when needed.
  • Support the Junior and Group Programs as needed
  • Support the IELTS testing team where/as necessary and implementation of operational procedures in coordination with IELTS management.
  • Implement excellent financial management of the school.

Experience Needed:

Successful candidate will meet all or some combination of attributes listed below:

  • Bachelor’s or equivalent degree
  • Experience in management of educational or learning programs and related staff. We will also consider applicants who have successfully led non educational programs as well.
  • Experience in managing English as a Second Language or university programs preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership abilities
  • Experience in working with university administration preferred.
  • Experience in managing budgets and planning.
  • Ability to learn computer management systems.
