We are seeking full-time Environmental Scientists for our Oakland, CA operations.


The selected candidate will provide technical support in the areas of environmental site assessment, brownfields, site investigation and remediation activities. Work will include multi-media sampling, field audits and inspections, organizing and reviewing data, preparing reports, perform reviews, contractor oversight, and related services. Members of the team are also responsible for the planning and oversight of operations and site health and safety. Work will include:
  • Multi-media sampling
  • Field audits and inspections.
  • Organizing and reviewing data.
  • Writing and performing technical reviews of reports.
  • Planning field investigations
  • Subcontractor oversight
  • Performing Phase I and 2 Environmental Site Assessments, brownfields assessments, site inspections, and/or site investigations on sites with potentially hazardous substances.
  • Managing projects of varying size and complexity
  • Travel to lead and support environmental projects on a local or national scale


Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have / be:

  • Strong technical writer with some knowledge about preparing technical reports (Sampling and Analysis Plans, Phase II and II ESAs, Remedial Work Plans, Cost Analyses). Should also have non-technical writing skills too.
  • Experience with remedial design, feasibility studies, hazardous waste, site investigations, site remediation, field sampling, air quality, ecological restoration, radiological issues, and/or water resources a plus
  • GIS data analysis and geo-statistics, and data management skills a plus
  • Experience working on field projects under federal and state regulatory programs.
  • Previous experience working on EPA projects a plus
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations is expected
  • Analytical skills related to qualitative and quantitative data
  • Able to recommend adaptations and modifications of scientific or engineering methods using independent judgment
  • Must be highly motivated, customer focused, and work well in a team environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, client interaction and project management skills are required
  • Experience with data analysis
  • Able to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously, strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to independently manage your workload and be flexible.
  • Able to travel and be on-call as needed
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications required

Degree / Certifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in environmental sciences or physical sciences
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER preferred


Work Environment
The work involves both office and field environments. Field work and travel are expected. Fieldwork requires regular and recurring work in variable outdoor environments, packing heavy equipment, and excavations using hand tools. A physical capacity for working outdoors, often in isolated areas, is required. Work is performed where terrain may be steep, uneven, rocky, and covered with vegetation. Climate ranges from extremely dry to extremely wet and from hot to cold. Rain, snow, wind, or dust may be encountered. The work may require the use of protective clothing.

  • Field work is anticipated to be in remote areas. You must also be able to work in outdoor areas during all seasons, both hot and cold.
  • Must be able to conduct fieldwork in a variety of environments and topography, including walking on uneven terrain.
  • Must be able to carry field equipment (35 to 40 pounds).
  • Must be able to don personal protective gear as needed.
  • This position requires you to drive on a regular basis. Passing a motor vehicle record background check and maintaining a valid driver’s license and good driving record is required.
  • This position requires roughly 35% travel, you must be able to travel.

The Salary Range for this position is $64,480 - $72,000
