Environmental Customer Support Technician (ECST) – Sol Solutions LLC is seeking an experienced and hard-working Technician at the Fort Polk, LA Office. This person serves as an ECST supporting the Compliance Management Branch at Fort Polk, Louisiana. Primarily responsible for providing technical expertise and ensuring the installation meets environmental compliance throughout the facilities and the units within Fort Polk.

Responsibilities include:

  • Familiar with environmental protection programs required by Federal, State, DoD, and installation regulations
  • Assist installation units and organizations in preparing and maintaining environmental compliance with Federal, State, and DoD regulation
  • Identify and correct non-compliant environmental issues
  • Within each Functional Area or Unit coordinate hazardous waste disposal
  • Perform environmental compliance assessments, consisting of all the requirements identified in the JRTC and Fort Polk Regulation 200-1 and as required by Federal, State, and Army environmental regulations.
  • Develop and update standard operating procedures for Functional Area or Unit
  • Service, maintain oil filter crushers on the installation, including cleaning and changing filters or parts as necessary, and proper disposal of all liquid and solid remains.
  • Inspect Above Ground Storage Tanks (AST) as needed and document inspection
  • Record and track hazardous material use for assigned facilities and report quarterly results for the annual Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act (EPCRA)
  • Prepare and assist Functional Area or Unit for EPA, LDEQ, and DoD environmental compliance inspections.
  • Conduct briefings and training as needed on environmental compliance
  • Work in a team environment and individually with minimal supervision
  • Meet required schedules and suspense while producing quality work
  • Maintain and service parts washer machines as needed
  • Provide emergency spill response clean up
  • Maintain HAZWOPER, RCRA, and DOT Certification

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Grad or GED
  • Minimum 8 years of US Military or working for the US Military experience
  • 5 Years of environmental compliance experience
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds unassisted
  • Must have a valid state driver’s license
  • Must be a US Citizen, capable of passing a National Agency Check, which is required to gain access to Government IT Systems and Common Access Card (CAC)
  • Adhere to all installation COVID-19 safety protocols and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of environmental regulatory systems, including but not limited to Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Department of Transportation (DOT), Clean Water Act (CWA), Environmental Planning and Community Right –to-know Act (EPCRA), and Clean Air Act
  • Retired Military
  • Working knowledge and understanding of DoD organizations and facilities
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Initial 40-hour HAZWOPER certification and current annual 8-hour refresher training
  • OSHA forklift operator training
  • Strong computer skills

Work Schedule

Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm (hours may slightly change based on workload and other factors)
