Role

The Environmental Coordinator will be responsible for developing, implementing, and directing programs, procedures, and systems to comply with Federal, State, and local laws as well as environmental regulations from other applicable agencies and to address potential environmental liabilities.

The position will be based at the Thacker Pass project site located approximately 70 miles northwest of Winnemucca, Nevada. Travel to other project sites or business offices will be required as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct sampling and monitoring of environmental media.
  • Review and analyze data to identify patterns or problems.
  • Draft letters and reports for review by Environmental Manager
  • Perform site audits and inspections to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and applicable permits.
  • Develop, implement, and manage environmental programs, projects, and policies, as directed.
  • Develop plans to prevent or mitigate damage to the environment and coordinate response to emergencies such as hydrocarbon spills or chemical leaks.
  • Conduct outreach programs to promote environmental awareness, in cooperation with community relations groups.
  • Assist with the application of environmental regulations.
  • Interact with regulatory agencies, auditors and other third parties during multi-media inspections and information requests.
  • Monitors air and water quality.
  • Monitors the presence of and identifies hazardous pollutants that may pose a threat to the environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor s degree in environmental science, biology, chemistry, or a related field preferred.
  • Coursework in environmental science, biology, chemistry, ecology, mathematics, and statistics is a plus.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of related work experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and policies.
  • Proficiency with technology and equipment used in environmental monitoring.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Technical skills, such as groundwater monitoring, data entry using spreadsheets and databases, such as Velocity EHS or Enkon Integral-LIS.
  • Experience in using Microsoft Office programs such as Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions, extended periods of time standing and sitting.
