RESPONSIBILITIES : The Enrollment Services Counselor for Diversity represents Morehead State University by performing all significant recruiting and admissions functions necessary for the university to successfully accomplish its educational goals and serve the admissions needs of the university. The Enrollment Services Counselor for Diversity develops and implements the university’s minority recruitment program, including recruiting minority students, developing a network of school and community leaders to assist in identifying qualified students. The Enrollment Services Counselor for Diversity is also responsible for planning, organizing, and executing recruitment and enrollment services activities. They must also be able to effectively communicate and counsel prospective students, and their families on financial aid principles and best practices for funding a college education. This position represents the University and encourages qualified prospective students to apply and enroll.
REQUIREMENTS : Bachelor’s degree. Valid driver’s license required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must possess high energy level, good interpersonal skills, initiative and ability to motivate others. Experience in computer applications, with the ability to generate and provide detailed reports on recruitment activities.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS : Master’s degree preferred. Experience in such areas such as sales, marketing, customer relations, student support, or other related field.

The Enrollment Services Counselor for Diversity reports directly to the Director of Undergraduate Admissions and bi-annually to Assistant Vice President of Enrollment Services.

The Enrollment Services Counselor for Diversity works with a minimum level of supervision. The position will often involve a highly stressful environment. The person holding this position must become familiar with all aspects of the campus community and much have the ability to make independent decisions but yet know when supervisory assistance is required. Decisions may be related to more complex matters within established policy and procedures and the decisions made by this position will affect the work of others in other departments. The effects of errors in judgment can be detrimental to students, and damage the reputation of the University, especially in the area of student enrollment. The Enrollment Services Counselor for Diversity will be expected to travel extensively and work irregular hours and including evenings and weekends.
